The cheapest hybrid setup is a camera at the back of the room and a laptop. It works, technically. It also tells six thousand remote employees that they're an afterthought.
Two audiences, two mixes
The in-room mix is built for a live space with natural reverb and audience energy. Push that same mix down a stream and it sounds distant and hollow. A dedicated broadcast mix — separate console feed, separate operator — is the single highest-return line item on a hybrid budget.
Where teams underspend
- One camera instead of three — no reaction shots, no cutaways, no pace.
- No confidence monitors — presenters drift off-camera and off-script.
- No rehearsal window — the first run-through should not be the live one.
